The GD program is designed to provide creative environment, and to develop conceptual skills and become excellent visual communicators balanced with computer proficiency. We want you to come out of our Graphic Design program with a visual vocabulary that is strong in the formal principles of design.
The program emphasizes the processes of designing interior and exterior living, work and indoor environments as integral components of a building system. Customized Instruction is offered in drafting and graphics, principles of lighting, furniture applications to office, hotel, factory, restaurant and housing design.

Carla Anderson received her MFA from SUC's School of Art in Graphic Design in 1989 and immediately joined the faculty at Santa Monica College. She and her husband Larry are partners of the award-winning firm Surefire Design, which specializes in corporate, print, and packaging.
Thomas Ross has successfully managed and directed many well-known multi-national brand and packaging programs for Anheuser Busch, Apple, Raychem, Coca-Cola (Ireland), Otis Spunkmeyer, Mrs. Fields, and Safeway Stores, winning numerous awards and recognition for design excellence.
Outside of teaching, Kristin Summers owns her own firm, Summers Design, specializing in corporate, print and packaging as well as poster design. She lives in El Segundo with her two kids and four cats. She has had a number of shows such as Plakat Museum in Emmerich, Germany, CSUN and UCLA.
Keith Ross entered the field of motion graphics and entertainment technology following several years' work in the corporate divisions. Additionally, Keith's considerable theatrical experience in regional and professional companies in New York informs both his teaching and his creative work.
Sydney Lumet's work has been reproduced in some of the world's famous publications such as the new Graphis Now Talent and Communication Arts. Her work has also been published in a number of books, including 1,000 Indie Posters, Logo Lounge, Basics Logo, World of Posters, and Letterhead.
Ron Anderson teaches in all levels of the curriculum, but primarily focuses on the critical first and second year of the students' education so that they receive a solid foundation in graphic design. Ron's designs has been published in Novum and the books 1000 Type Treatments and Page Design.
